No
universal ideal client exists. Different clients need different
advisors.
The
important thing is to find an advisor suited to you in values,
temperament and style.
I can tell you that the clients with whom I work best comprise
some common characteristics.
Ideally
for me, my ideal client
Leads a family, a business or both
Keeps extremely busy, committed in their careers, businesses
and families, and don’t have the time or inclination
to manage their money themselves
Is smart enough to hear advice and wise enough to accept
it
Has a bright future and makes ongoing contributions to
their community / church
Recognizes their responsibility to invest prudently (are
more interested in investing than speculating)
Remain open-minded and willing to learn new things a new
ways
Want advice, not just information
Desire long-term relationships with their advisors
They have goals that may include:
- living a long, comfortable and worry free retirement
- to meaningfully intervene in the financial lives of
their children
- to fund in full or in part their grandchildren’s
education
- providing quality care to their parents in later years
- making a meaningful contribution to charities, church,
school or other institution
